Kavian Aldavoud

BSc Biology, University of British Columbia
IB Diploma – WVSS Alum 30+ Students Helped Former Academy Tutor

I’m Kavian, a UBC Biology grad and IB alum from West Vancouver Secondary. Before starting my own practice, I worked at another tutoring academy, helping over 30 students raise their grades and confidence. What sets me apart? I’m young, so I’ve actually had many of the teachers my students have now—and I remember what it’s like to struggle.

I can say from firsthand experience that a math PhD can’t break things down for students who are genuinely stuck. I’ve been there, and I had to figure out how to learn myself. Now, I make that process faster and easier for my students, using proven strategies with great results.

The best part of my job is helping my students realise what they're capable of.

The Team

Specialists in Every Subject

Hesam Nadi, math and economics tutor at Kav Academy

Hesam Nadi

Finance, Sauder School of Business — UBC
Math 10–12 University Math Economics

Hesam is a Finance student at UBC's Sauder School of Business and an experienced tutor specializing in senior math — Grades 10 through 12 — as well as university-level math and economics courses. He knows how quickly math builds on itself, so his sessions focus on closing gaps early and turning shaky fundamentals into solid marks. Patient and methodical, Hesam is a great fit for students who want a tutor who breaks hard problems into steps that finally make sense.

Ryan Parissay, chemistry, physics and math tutor at Kav Academy

Ryan Parissay

BASc Chemical & Biological Engineering — UBC
Chemistry Physics Math 8–12 AP & IB

Ryan holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering from UBC and tutors chemistry, physics and math across every grade from 8 to 12 — at the standard, AP and IB levels. With an engineer's eye for how concepts connect to the real world, he turns abstract formulas into ideas students can actually picture and use. Whether it's first-time chemistry or a demanding IB physics course, Ryan meets students where they are and builds them up.
